Additional expenses

When you arrive in Russia, there are some extra costs on top of the basic tuition and accommodation. During the first months of your arriving, it would be better to have about extra 400 $ for additional expenses: setting up an apartment or dorm (purchasing dishes, bedding, cleaning supplies), buying some textbooks and university supplies. This is an approximate amount and it all depends on your needs.
Please, expect, that you will pay additionally for some extra things, following:

Recognition of foreign education and (or) qualifications, in order to organize admission of foreign students to study at the SFedU (4,000 rubles). Detailed information about the recognition procedure is published on the website
Medical insurance (4000 rubles per year (about ≈50$)). For some further information about medical insurance can be asked via e-mail tcenter@sfedu.ru

On average, you will spend at least 15 thousand rubles (≈ 160$) per month on:

Food (from 10,000 rubles per month);
Mobile communications (from 400 rubles per month);
Transport (from 2,500 rubles per month).

Bank card

Bank card (Center-Invest) необходима для получения студенческой стипендии и для пропуска в Университет и Общежития оформляется в Деканате вашего факультета.

Если вам необходимо получить дополнительную банковскую карту, вы можете оформить и получить ее в отделении любого банка. Чтобы оформить карту, необходимо подать заявку на открытие в отделении банка и предоставить требуемые документов. Обычно для оформления карты иностранному гражданину понадобятся: A bank card (Center-Invest) is required for obtaining a student scholarship, and it also used as entry card to the University buildings and Dormitories. It can be issued at the Dean's Office of your faculty.

If you need to get an additional bank card, you can apply for and receive it at any bank branch. To apply for this card, you must submit an application for opening at a bank branch and provide the required documents. Usually, a foreign citizen will need:

1. Passport of a foreign citizen

2. Notarized translation of the document into Russian (with the “blue" stamp)

3. Migration card, registration (notification of registration), residence permit (if any)

Temporary Residence Permit for Education (RVPO)

Students of Russian state educational or scientific organizations studying on full-time mode of Bachelor's, Specialist's, Master's and PhD orgrams can apply for Temporary Residence Permit for Education (RVPO).

RVPO is valid for the entire duration of the training and for 180 days after completion of the training
Foreign students from countries with a visa regime of entry, receiving RVPO, apply for a visa immediately for the entire period of study
You can study and work at the same time on the basis of RVPO
When transferring to another university or to another educational program, the RVPO will continue to operate, but the student must send a package of transfer documents to the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within 30 days

Temporary Residence Permit for Education (RVPO)

11. An application corresponding to the form given in Appendix No. 4 to the Administrative Regulations.
2. Foreign passport of a foreign citizen, valid for at least 3 months on the date of application.
3. Notarized translation of the foreign passport into Russian (with the “blue" stamp).
4. Matte color photos 35 мм x 45 мм, which correspond to the age of the applicant at the time of filing the application, with a clear image of the face strictly in full face without a headdress.
5. For countries with visa. Documents confirming the absence of a criminal record of the applicant who arrived in the Russian Federation in accordance with the procedure requiring a visa: a document issued by the competent authority of the State of permanent residence confirming the absence of a criminal record or, if any, containing information about the crime for which the applicant was convicted, issued no earlier than 3 months before the date of filing the application.
6. Documents proving the enrollment into the educational institution*
7. Copies of accreditation of the university, notarized by university of the whole period of study*
8. Copies of license of the university, notarized by university of the whole period of study*
9. Certificate of education from the faculty.
10. Migration card (original and copy).
11. Temporary registration (original and copy).
12. Medical documents, confirming the passage of a medical examination by a foreign citizen:

A medical report on the absence of the fact that a foreign citizen or a stateless person has used drugs or psychotropic substances without a doctor's appointment or new potentially dangerous psychoactive substances and their metabolites.
Medical report on the presence (or absence) of infectious diseases that pose a danger to others.
A medical document confirming that a foreign citizen has passed a medical examination for the presence (or absence) of a disease, caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection): Certificate of absence of the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection).

13. A document confirming the payment of a state fee of 1,600 rubles (one of the documents chosen by the applicant):

A receipt, confirming the payment of the state fee in the prescribed amount.
A payment document confirming the payment of the fee in the prescribed amount.

You can pay at “Sberbank" bank, explaining to the employee that this is a payment of the state fee for issuing the RVPO.
